Anchor Bar Loveland

People who've known me for a while know that it's always been a bucket list trip for me to head to Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY to try the birthplace of the food item nearest and dearest to my heart: Hot Wings. So you can imagine my excitement when I found Anchor Bar was coming to Colorado, and I have to say that I can now successfully check off this bucket list food trip! I ordered both traditional and boneless wings, and they came out hot and crispy, and I was able to try multiple sauces, each having a pleasant balance of flavor and heat, that paired well with their signature blue cheese. Knowing Colorado is a ranch dipping state though, they also had a house ranch, that stacked as one of the best ranches I've had. Anchor Bar in Loveland brings all the original recipes, decor, and vibe from the original, and I was lucky enough to also come on a Bills game day, and the Buffalo faithful had packed the bar area. If you even mildly enjoy hot wings, you owe it to yourself to visit the originator, Anchor Bar. Also enjoyed but not pictured: Beef on Weck, pizza rolls, fried pickles, donut holes, cheese fries, and of course, the mimosa tower. The service, cocktails, and beer list were great too.

I spoke to Brian to set a reservation, he let me know that that don’t place reservations for smaller parties (10 or more) but he let the staff know we were coming in. When we arrived, they knew exactly who we were, very nice to know that people still do things that they say they’ll do. Met Brian as we entered, he was very appreciative for our patronage. We were sat down in Jason’s area for dinner and drinks with friends. Immediately, he was fun and helpful. Brian stopped by again to check on us, make sure Jason was doing a good job (he was). Our drinks never hit empty the whole night. We ordered the loaded tots for an app. Hard to describe, but it’s amazing that a tot could be so dang good. We ordered our food, I went with the original Buffalo, just to see how it all started. Was not disappointed. My wife got the Mango Habanero, she really enjoyed them as well. 5 stars isn’t enough. I have eaten a lot of wings in my life, having spent years working for Tyson Foods. But the wings my son and I had at Anchor Bar a few days ago were the best we’ve ever had. Crispy, juicy, uniform size, perfectly flavored. We had the dry rub Lemon Pepper and traditional Buffalo wings and some ice-cold beers. When we arrived no one was sitting outside, so we asked if we could, and they immediately unlocked the big patio doors and set up our table with all the tableware and accoutrements. We wondered, since we were the only ones outside, if service would be slower. We didn’t have to wait long for that notion to be proven wrong. Our Server, Brandy, appeared instantly was super friendly, and treated us like we were the guests of honor. Apparently it was her first shift working there, but you would have thought she had been there for years. After we finished and got the check, we were in for another pleasant surprise, as the total amount was much lower than we thought it would be given how much we enjoyed it. We asked if we could speak with the manager to say how awesome the food was, and to let the manager know how great Brandy was. Sarah (with an “h” of course), the Assistant General Manager was every bit as gracious as Brandy, and it was obvious her good nature and great attitude set the tone for the entire staff. Incredible food, excellent staff, and awesome atmosphere. If you haven’t been to the Anchor Bar, and you live anywhere within 100 miles of it, you owe it to yourself to go. It’s like discovering a gold mine in your own back yard.

Excellent food, great atmosphere, attentive staff. Went here with our kids and absolutely loved it! The food was amazing, drinks were awesome, dessert was killer! The wings lived up to their reputation and the apps (Pizza Logs especially) were so good. The place has a fun atmosphere and is great for both sports and family dining. Bathrooms were beautiful and the place sparkled. I highly recommend!!!

First time trying anchor bar and really enjoyed it! Fun sports bar feel, good service and the wings were pretty good! I usually prefer sauced wings but their dry rubs were way better than their sauced wings! We got original medium, honey garlic, Buffalo ranch dry rub and lemon pepper dry rub! Both dry rubs were phenomenal! Definitely recommend! Can’t wait to come back and try the pizza and sandwiches!

15/10 experience for our first time dining in. My fiance and I both got wings. He got traditional and I got boneless. We tried the honey bourbon I believe? The spicy garlic Parm and the medium sauces. SO GOOD. The sauce has amazing flavors and the chicken is just amazing as is. Our server was Landri and she was the sweetest, EVER and was on top of it!! it is a bit pricey but WORTH it .

As always - great wings! The service was great and the feel inside is really calm and cool. Lot of sports on tv’s, but it’s not so loud you can’t hear conversation. Just a good calm place to get wings and enjoy your evening. If you’ve never been to Anchor Bar this is a buffalo wing style place and that’s how they come out- just as good as the original wings makers!

Waitress was very kind, fast a AND accurate! I was very impressed with her professionalism. The music was appropriate in volume and content (modern pop think Imagine Dragons). Each wall was adorned with high-resolution televisions, showing a wide selection of sports. Beer was good (I chose the GD Anchor Bar Lager. A lager perfect for lunch (and happy hour 5 pints ). For appetizers, we chose the pizza rolls and fired quartered pickels, which did not disappoint ( a bit greasy, but that is to be expected). The pizza was great, but the main event was their buffalo wings. Their Buffalo wings are on par if not better than the original in Buffalo. I ate with my wife's family, who are from the Buffalo area. They championed the opinion that these wings are better than the wings from Buffalo. P.S my 6 year old liked the spaghetti 1 thumbs up. P.S.2 The air conditioning was perfectly comfortable.
